Duties

We are recruiting for a Part Time Withdrawal Management Worker (WMW). This role is a vital part of our Withdrawal Management and Treatment Services, supporting individuals at the earliest stage of their recovery journey through providing compassionate, client‑centred care to individuals withdrawing from alcohol and/or drugs in our bed‑based program.

Working as part of a collaborative interdisciplinary team, you will help ensure client safety, comfort, and engagement while supporting brief service planning, psychoeducational programming, and transitions to ongoing care. This role is ideal for someone who is compassionate and thrives in a dynamic, team‑based environment that is committed to harm reduction practice.

- Conduct telephone screening to determine program eligibility
- Support client intake and orientation to the program
- Monitor withdrawal symptoms and accurately administer and document medications as prescribed
- Alert nursing and medical staff to any concerns impacting protected withdrawal
- Support implementation of client safety, service, and transition plans
- Deliver brief, solution‑focused interventions
- Facilitate individual and group psychoeducation to enhance motivation and recovery skills




- Confidently and respectfully redirect client behaviour to maintain a safe therapeutic environment
- Provide responsive, compassionate support to clients throughout their stay
- Support safe and effective facility operations, including light cleaning and meal preparation
- Maintain timely and accurate documentation in the client data system

Qualifications

- College diploma or certificate in Human/Social Services (e.g., PSW, SSW, HSW, Addiction Worker)
- Minimum 2 years combined education/experience in substance use, concurrent disorders, and/or mental health settings
- Strong interpersonal, de‑escalation, and teamwork skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with electronic databases
- Access to reliable transportation
- Ability to manage exposure to vicarious trauma and maintain appropriate self‑care
