The Machine Helper is a hands-on role that supports machine operators in meeting daily production requirements while maintaining high standards for safety and quality. This position is well suited for someone who is reliable, team-oriented, and eager to learn how the production line operates from start to finish.
The Machine Helper will assist with material staging, packaging, and line support, gaining exposure to multiple machines and processes. With consistent performance, strong attendance, and a willingness to learn, this role offers the chance to develop the skills required to progress into the role of a Material Handler, Carpenter, or skilled Machine Operator.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for ensuring skids are available for jobs, may be required to build skids from time to time
Package skids of steel sheets or slit material according to order specifications
Assist the main Machine operator with their tasks ensuring smooth operation of the machine
Accurately conduct machine set ups according to order specifications
May be moved to various machines to package material as required
Assist line operators to stage and load material for the production line
Use lifting equipment to move the correct material to the production line for each scheduled order
Assist in tagging finished cut materials
Qualifications:
Secondary school education
Minimum 1 year of experience working in a manufacturing setting
Forklift experience is an asset
Overhead crane experience is an asset
Skills:
Valuable verbal communication skills
Ability to work effectively with a team
Ability to accurately read imperial/metric measuring tape.
Comfortable using hand and power tools.
Basic computer skills
