We are currently hiring casual youth justice workers for an Open Custody and Detention program in Oshawa, Ontario

Casual Positions Available - Shift Work (Days/Nights & Weekdays/Weekends)

We are seeking responsible and motivated individuals to work as youth workers on a casual basis, within a male Open Detention / Custody youth justice facility located in Oshawa.

The position entails shift work. Responsibilities include but are not limited to providing supervision and mentoring of young persons at risk or in conflict with the law, accompanying them to appointments, delivering programming, teaching life-skills, assisting youth to meet their own goals that they have set, helping to create success, and most importantly ensuring that their voice is listened to and considered through all processes.

Minimum Requirements
Completed post-secondary education, with practicum experience, in a related field such as Child and Youth Care, Community Justice, Criminology, Mental Health/Addictions, and Social Service Work/Social Work. Those with prior work experience in a residential setting are preferred.
Degree/Diploma/Certificate in any of the following: Social Services,



Mental Health & Addictions, Criminology & Justice Corrections, Child & Youth Worker
Knowledge of relevant legislation and harm reduction, trauma-informed, anti- oppressive practices as well as a client centered, strength-based approach to working with young persons are key components of this position.
A valid G level driver’s license; with proof of a protected driving record,
Medical note that you are fit for this type of work,
Proof of Immunization Records,
Provision of an acceptable Broad Record Check (within 6 months)
In addition, the successful applicants should have demonstrated solid interpersonal skills, have a creative approach to working with young persons, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and possess the ability to work collaboratively with team members.

CPR/First Aid training
ASIST training

Pay: $22.00-$25.00 per hour
