Purpose of the Position
Directs and assists in carrying out safety aseptic technique and procedures;
Delivers direct nursing care to patients utilizing the nursing process
Assists physicians with endoscopy and other procedures provided (gastroscopy, minor anorectal surgery);
Prepares specimens for pathology lab;
Ensures proper functioning and safety (sterilization) of equipment; initiates repairs of faulty equipment, and assists with sterilization, if and when required;
Ensures that work area is clean, sanitized and free of clutter at all times;
Follows quality assurance standards as directed
Procedures and IHF guidelines and other applicable quality standards;
Is aware of safety specific concerns with regard to patients age;
If required, monitors required stock and safety/quality levels for clinical supplies.
Working Relationship
Works collaboratively with clinical nursing team, physicians, clinical support staff and administrative staff in accordance with the policies of the Holly Endoscopy Clinic.
Effectively interacts between patients and their families/caregivers.
Education, Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with registration as Registered Nurse or Registered Practical Nurse, licensed to practice in Ontario.
Minimum 1 year experience preferred.
BCLS (or working towards) certifications.
Positive verbal and written communication skills, proficiency in the English language
Computer literacy.
I.V. experience preferred.
Must have at least two COVID-19 vaccinations.
