Job Summary
We are seeking a Field Network Cable Technician to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience installing network infrastructure, including running copper and fiber cables, mounting network equipment, and terminations. This role focuses primarily on Wi-Fi and low-voltage cabling projects, requiring strong practical skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of networking fundamentals.
Responsibilities
Perform cabling installation including CAT6, coax, and fiber runs in commercial and hospitality environments.
Crimp & punchdown, terminate, and test RJ45, coax, and fiber connectors to ensure signal quality and compliance.
Mount and install access points, switches, patch panels, and enclosures according to project drawings and specifications.
Conduct in office troubleshooting, cable testing, and re-termination as needed.
Label, document, and organize cable routes and terminations for accurate recordkeeping.
Collaborate with project managers and coordinators to execute rollout schedules efficiently.
Support basic device setup such as switch placement, access point activation, and connectivity verification.
Skills
At least 3+ years of experience in network cabling and low-voltage installation.
Proficiency in cable pathway and cable management.
Ability to read and follow floorplans, cable diagrams, and rack layouts.
Experience with cable testing tools (e.g., Fluke, Klein, or equivalent).
Familiar with network concepts such as TCP/IP, DHCP, and VLANs.
Skilled in crimping, punching down, and cable dressing techniques.
Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel between sites as required.
Certifications such as CCNA considered an asset.
Physical & Other Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Work on ladders when required.
Commitment to maintaining a qualified appearance and work ethic in office.
Job Types: Part time, Seasonal, Freelance
Pay: $22.00-$28.00 per hour
