Job Description: The Vancouver Island Regional Library (VIRL) is seeking a Permanent Full Time Circulation Supervisor to work at our Masset Branch.

The Circulation Supervisor is responsible for the day to day clerical work of the branch to ensure customers are provided with access to positive library service.

These responsibilities are carried out under the supervision of the Library Manager and within the regional librarys policies, procedures, standards and resources.

The Library Manager may supervise in the branch or at a distance.

Representative Duties: Participates in the recruitment of branch clerical staff.

Recruits Pages.

Supervises and prepares schedules for clerical staff and pages.

Prepares performance appraisals for approval of Library Manager.

Carries out and assigns clerical duties related to circulation, information service, computer support, collection maintenance, routine facility maintenance and appearance, equipment maintenance, fundraising, financial routines, promotional and programming activities.

Deals with customer complaints and refers reliable complaints to Library Manager.





Required Education and Experience: Grade 12 Graduation (Dogwood Diploma or equivalent).

Prefer completion of two specified PLSB Community Library Training Program courses.

Positive oral and written communication skills. 2 FTE years of relevant experience.

Ability and willingness to work with the public (all ages).

Working knowledge of books and print and online informational material.

Working knowledge of information services technology including the ability to use the Internet and standard electronic reference resources.

Working knowledge of computer hardware, operating systems, applications software and interfaces.

You are required to satisfactorily complete a Criminal Record Check (Working with Children & Vulnerable Adults.) Schedules are subject to change to accommodate the changing needs and demands of the business.

Schedule: Tuesday: 9:45am-5:45pm Wednesday: 11:15am-7:15pm Thursday: 11:15am-7:15pm Friday: 9:45am-5:45pm Saturday: 9:45am-5:45pm
