Role Responsibilities The Alberta Aids to Daily Living (AADL) Program serves over 120,000 Albertans with chronic conditions and disabilities by ensuring access to essential medical equipment and supplies.

We are looking for a clinically grounded, analytical, and team-oriented Assistive Devices and Equipment Consultant to guide benefit design, enhance program delivery, and support high-quality, evidence-based services across the province.

This role combines clinical insight, policy development, stakeholder engagement, and system level leadership ideal for a regulated health skilled seeking to make a broad impact.

In this role, you will: Provide strategic and clinical leadership for assistive device and equipment perks (e.g., prosthetic, orthotic and footwear benefits), ensuring policies and standards reflect evidence and emerging health needs.

Develop, update, and interpret AADL policies and procedures, including eligibility criteria, benefit limits, and access parameters.

Evaluate products, technologies, and vendor performance to maintain and enhance the applicable AADL Approved Product Lists ( APL).





Review and adjudicate complex prosthetic, orthotic and footwear benefit authorization requests, including prior approvals and quantity/ frequency reviews.

Oversee benefit administration delivered through Alberta Blue Cross and collaborate on system improvements.

Lead operational and process enhancements, supporting financial forecasting, contract planning, and program sustainability.

Build and maintain strong relationships with health providers, vendors, Alberta Blue Cross, and other ministries.

Provide expert guidance and issue management, preparing briefing materials and responding to inquiries from clients, vendors, authorizers and stakeholders.

Collaborate with AADL program staff and clinical consultants to support program operations and priorities.

Apply clinical judgement to balance client needs, program sustainability, and policy requirements.
