Position Overview Under the general supervision of and in collaboration with the Manager Health Services and while demonstrating a commitment to the Mission, Values and Management Philosophy of St.
Boniface Hospital, the PERINATAL NURSE is responsible for assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the health care needs of all high-risk or at-risk obstetrical patients seen in office at St.
Boniface Hospital in the Fetal Assessment Unit. NOTE Please be advised this position will work in the Fetal Assessment Unit as well as the Obstetrics, Gynecology & Neonatology Relief Team as needed.
Experience Minimum of two (2) years recent, related nursing experience required in a high risk perinatal unit required.
Previous experience in a fetal assessment unit is preferred.
Demonstrated nursing assessment skills required.
Demonstrated research experience is an asset.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate) Current C.R.N.M. registration required.
Midwifery Program and Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Successful completion of the relevant portions of the Obstetrical Sonography Program through the Burwin Institute or recognized equivalent required. Note: In the event that there is no applicant with the required program, the employer may consider an applicant who does not have the course.
Successful completion of the course is required when the chance to take the course is scheduled by the employer, or as otherwise mutually agreed to between the nurse and the employer.
Continued employment in this position is conditional on successful completion of the required program.
Certification/Licensure/Registration Current C.R.N.M. registration required.
Valid drivers license and use of own vehicle required.
Travel to remote locations through various forms of transportation (eg: airplane, boat, etc) required.
Qualifications and Skills Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated effective organizational, interpersonal, critical thinking/problem solving, leadership and decision making skills in response to a variety of simultaneous demands.
Demonstrated clinical competence.
Demonstrated teaching ability.
