What you'll be doing
CIBC Insurance supports clients with products and solutions that help protect what matters most, and this team plays an important role in shaping a strong, competitive insurance offering. As a Director, Partner Relationships, you'll lead the strategy, evaluation, and management of external partner and supplier relationships across the Insurance product shelf, with a focus on Life, Travel, and Home & Auto insurance. You'll identify and establish current partnerships that support growth and innovation, while strengthening existing relationships to deliver strong business outcomes. You'll negotiate and manage partner agreements, oversee performance against service expectations, and ensure alignment with CIBC policies, risk appetite, and regulatory requirements. Working closely with stakeholders across the organization, you'll help integrate new partnerships into business processes and systems, provide strategic recommendations on partner opportunities, and maintain effective oversight through strong documentation and reporting. You'll also lead and coach a team, fostering a collaborative, high-performing culture that supports development and accountability. How you'll succeed
Lead partner strategy – Identify, evaluate, and establish new external partner and supplier relationships that support the Insurance business strategy and enhance the product shelf across Life, Travel, and Home & Auto insurance. Manage strategic relationships – Build and maintain productive relationships with partners, vendors, and suppliers to support business priorities, strengthen collaboration, and drive long-term value. Negotiate and oversee agreements – Lead contract negotiations and manage partnership arrangements to ensure alignment with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and CIBC's risk framework. Monitor performance and compliance – Oversee partner and supplier performance through regular review meetings, service level monitoring, and documentation that supports governance, audit, and compliance requirements. Drive cross-functional execution – Partner with internal teams to support the onboarding and integration of new suppliers and partnerships into existing business processes, systems,
and operating models. Lead people and continuous improvement – Coach and develop direct reports while recommending improvements to partner strategies, processes, and procedures that strengthen operational effectiveness and business results. Who you are
You're an experienced insurance leader. You bring deep knowledge of the Canadian insurance industry, including products, distribution channels, systems, and the regulatory environment. You're skilled in partnership and vendor management. You have strong experience building, negotiating, and managing external partner and supplier relationships within insurance or financial services. You're a strong communicator and influencer. You can present ideas clearly, build alignment, and work effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of the organization. You're strategic and analytical. You assess partnership opportunities thoughtfully, identify risks and implications, and develop practical recommendations that support business goals.
