About the Role

The Company is in search of a Vice-President, Finance and Operations (VPFO) to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the institution. The successful candidate will be a strategic, innovative, and cooperative leader, providing ethical and people-centered leadership across the University's administrative and operational portfolios.
This includes finance, facilities, information technology, ancillary services, environmental sustainability, enterprise risk management, and campus safety. The VPFO will work closely with the Provost to ensure that financial and operational decisions align with the academic mission and long-term success of the institution.

Key responsibilities for the VPFO include strategic leadership and governance, financial stewardship, operational management, and fostering a people-centered workplace culture rooted in reconciliation, equity, diversity, and inclusion.

The ideal candidate for the VPFO position at the company will have a degree in business, finance, public administration, or a related discipline, with a CPA designation preferred. They should have significant senior leadership experience in a complex organization, a proven track record in financial leadership, and experience managing large operational portfolios, particularly in a complex unionized setting.
The role requires a leader with a robust commitment to collegial governance, collaboration, and consultative decision-making, as well as a values-based leadership style that advances equity, diversity, and inclusion. The VPFO will be expected to lead through change, modernize processes, and implement system upgrades, and experience in the public or post-secondary sector is considered an asset.

The candidate should be a builder and change-maker, with superior skills in financial analysis and planning, exceptional relational skills, and the ability to connect financial and operational decisions to academic priorities.
