Responsibilities
As a Consultant Intern at IBM Payments Centre, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on consulting projects, focusing on client technical, business, and user needs to co‑create innovative solutions. You will help define future state goals, outline implementation steps, and engage with clients to understand industry challenges.
- Participate on a consulting project or initiative and experience first‑hand how we help transform clients’ business.
- Focus on our clients’ technical, business, and user needs to co‑create solutions that add value.
- Work collaboratively to deliver innovative solutions for clients.
- Develop an understanding of our client’s future state goals and processes, then define the steps needed and leading technologies to help turn their goals into reality.
- Learn about a client’s industry, tackle new challenges, and learn about how their business and technology intersect.
This position is open to applicants residing in Toronto or Montreal. It is an 8‑month internship work term commencing in January 2026. All applicants must be enrolled in full‑time studies at a post‑secondary institution and will return to full‑time studies after the internship. Candidates for a Quebec position must be fluent in French.
Qualifications
Required education
High School Diploma or GED.
Preferred education
Bachelor’s Degree.
Required technical and professional expertise
- Experience with both business and technology.
- Understanding of clients’ needs and challenges and creative,
logical problem‑solving.
- Quantitative analysis skills and ability to derive recommendations informed by data.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently and meet deadlines in a demanding environment.
- Clear communication of complex situations, active listening, and positive messaging.
- Strong interpersonal skills for collaboration and win‑win relationship building.
- Experience with Microsoft Office suite.
Preferred technical and professional experience
- Experience with banking or payments.
- Passion for creative ideas and openness to diverse perspectives.
- Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Leadership experience, ownership mindset, and adaptability.
- Initiative to seek new knowledge and improve skills.
Other relevant job details
- Must be able to work in Canada without sponsorship.
- This role will involve working with technology covered by export regulations. Foreign nationals from U.S. sanctioned countries or regions listed are not eligible.
