Job Summary

Reporting to the Registered Nurse / LPN and working under the direction of a Recreation Therapist, the Therapeutic Assistant assists in the provision of health, health promotion, and therapeutic services to patients. The role involves working cooperatively and collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to carry out the individual’s care plan and communicate patient‑specific information that enhances the treatment team’s knowledge.

Qualifications

- Grade 12 plus completion of year one from an accredited Therapeutic Recreation program that includes the Therapeutic Recreation Foundations Course
- Current CPR certification is required
- Current St. John Ambulance First Aid course preferred
- Current certification in Non‑Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) is an asset
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of community resources
- Competencies in other languages preferred; French an asset

Hours

- Part‑time long assignment; 52.5 hours bi‑weekly
- Approximately 12 months





Compensation and Benefits

$24.75 – $28.60 hourly. Successful candidates may be eligible for a advantages package that includes health, dental, travel, long‑term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
