Become a vital part of the Nanaimo Enhanced Harm Reduction initiative with AVI Health & Community Services. This role focuses on peer support and harm reduction in a community-based model.

AVI is hiring for the Enhanced Harm Reduction Peer Support Worker position. You'll leverage your lived experience with drug use to connect with individuals seeking support. This position involves working with a multidisciplinary team to provide essential services and clinical support across various settings.

Key Responsibilities: • Provide outreach support in clinics, parks, and shelters. • Distribute safer drug use and sex supplies. • Train peers in overdose prevention and naloxone use. • Assess overdose symptoms and provide emergency responses. • Assist with care plans and participant assessments.

Requirements: • Minimum two years’ harm reduction outreach experience. • Lived experience with illicit drug use and barriers. • Knowledge of local street culture and norms. • Robust communication skills for peer interaction. • Valid driver's license preferred.
