Role Description Arcadis is seeking a Project Director to join our Rail and Transit business in Canada. You will be responsible for managing the delivery of projects to meet time, quality, budgetary and health and safety targets while ensuring a robust client relationship that meets or exceeds client expectations. You will take a leadership role with the project team, providing direction, technical advice, and leading by example to promote both regional and global culture.
Role Accountabilities The successful candidate will provide effective leadership to the team, communicate project strategy, brief, and client requirements, and ensure engagement across the project. You will develop and manage the Project Program, gain stakeholder buy-in, implement financial and project management controls, and enable monitoring, modification, and forecasting. Continuous improvementof productivity through enhanced processes, procedures, and systems will also be required. In addition, you will manage resource deployment, assess and select suppliers, sub-consultants, and contractors, and maintain commercial oversight of contracts, invoicing, and debt.
Complete ownership of project performance, service delivery, and technical and commercial outcomes with reviews to exceed client expectations.
Project Management: Oversee design projects from conception to completion, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to required quality standards.
Collaborate with Stakeholders: Work closely with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies to meet requirements and exceed expectations.
Technical Leadership:
Provide leadership and direction to the design team, including architects, engineers, and technicians.
Resource Management: Manage design resources—software, tools, and materials—to optimize performance and cost-effectiveness.
Quality Assurance: Ensure all design work meets the highest standards of quality and safety through regular reviews and audits.
Qualifications & Experience Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s University Degree in Engineering (or equivalent) from an accredited university.
15+ years of progressive Project Management experience and 10+ years in a Transportation/Transit related discipline.
Preferred Qualifications
P.Eng. (eligible for membership with PEO).
Postgraduate qualifications in business, finance, or project management related areas.
Experience leading design in a consultant organization.
Sound commercial background, including familiarity with contractual conditions and procedures, ability to take commercial responsibility for a project.
Experience leading and working with people from varied backgrounds and cultures.
Knowledge of the transit, transportation, or urban planning sector.
The salary range for this position is $147,000 - $197,000.
