Responsibilities

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) works as a member of the multidisciplinary health care team,



collaborating on the delivery of holistic, comprehensive care and support to patients/residents and families. The LPN must be able to team‑lead effectively on their own. The LPN works to the full scope of practice in providing safe, quality care in accordance with established standards, and the Mission, Vision, Values, policies and procedures of Covenant Health. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the AUPE Auxiliary Nursing Collective Agreement.

Required Qualifications

- Graduate of a Practical Nursing programme or recognised equivalent.




- Active registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses and Health Care Aides of Alberta (CLHA).
- Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required.

Additional Required Qualifications

Emergency experience required (note: equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered). This position requires you to be on your feet for an extended period (walking and standing), and you must be able to assist in transporting, lifting and positioning of patients. You will also be required to bend, lift, push, and pull. This posting is scheduled to close at 23:59 of the posting end date but may be filled earlier under LOU #20 if a regular employee of the same classification who holds a regular position within this unit expresses their interest by 23:59 on the 5th calendar day following the posting date. If no such employee from this unit expresses their interest by the deadline, the vacancy shall be filled under the provisions of Article 11: Appointments & Transfers.

Preferred Qualifications

- Advanced practice courses (ACLS, PALS, etc.) preferred.
- Intravenous (IV) certification preferred (required upon hire).
- Connect Care EHR / EPIC and ENPEP training preferred (required upon hire).
- CLHA Restricted Activities Modules (Administering Diagnostic Imaging Contrast Agents, Fetal Heart Monitoring, Non‑Ionising Radiation, Administering Blood and Blood Products: Transfusion, Dispening of Medications and Immunisation) preferred (required upon hire).
