Overview

The Landscape and Snow Removal Technician is responsible for completing grounds maintenance service contracts. The position holder will operate a variety of tools and equipment to carry out specified job tasks.

Position type: full‑time with seasonal fluctuations – busier during spring/fall, less in the middle of summer and winter. Summer is a 4‑day week (Monday‑Thursday) with occasional Fridays and Saturdays. Winter is on‑call – we work when Mother Nature says we do!

Responsibilities

- Aid in the loading/unloading of trucks and trailers in the AM and PM
- Cut grass, trim edges, clean up refuse, blow trimmings, fertilize and water turf areas and perform other lawn‑care duties as directed by crew lead, field supervisor and regional manager
- Move and install soil, mulch and plant material to assist with the construction of landscape gardens and related areas
- Perform weeding and other general garden duties
- Spray and dust areas to control insects and/or weeds
- Snow removal in winter
- Operate power equipment including lawn tractors, lawn mowers, line trimmers, blowers, hedge trimmers, pruning saws, sod cutters, chainsaws, and snow blowers
- Conduct daily inspections and maintenance on vehicles, tools, and equipment
- Assist crew leads/field supervisors in other work‑related duties including construction projects, shop and yard maintenance, vehicle and equipment maintenance
- Wear appropriate PPE at all times
- Comply with all company policies and regulations
- Work in accordance with local health and safety laws and regulations
- Communicate with customers in a polite and courteous manner





Requirements

- Minimum 6 months to 1 year experience in the landscape/construction industry preferred
- Valid, clean Class 5 licence eligible for higher end of pay scale; without a licence up to $22.50
- Capable of operating required equipment and tools safely and responsibly
- Effective communication skills – able to carry out verbal instructions, read labels and signs, complete simple reports, report progress to supervisors
- Time‑management skills
- Knowledge of specific materials, methods, tools and equipment required for various landscape/construction practices
- Ability to work independently with little supervision and as part of a team
- Physical ability to walk, stand, crouch for long periods and lift over 50 lbs repeatedly during a shift
- Preference for candidates with a valid driver’s licence and safe driving record

Work Conditions

- Ability to work with hand tools, power tools, small‑engine equipment, and materials
- Ability to push, pull and lift a minimum of 50 lbs repeatedly during an entire shift
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced setting
- Requires good manual dexterity
- Excellent stamina required
- Work near heavy equipment and other vehicles regularly
- Work outdoors in various conditions including heat, humidity, rain, dust, noise, and cold
