The Assistant Superintendent is a contract, on-site role based in Vancouver, BC, supporting day-to-day field operations on multi-family and mixed-use construction projects. This role assists the Superintendent with coordinating trades, scheduling work, and monitoring site activities to ensure safety, quality, and adherence to project plans and specifications. Responsibilities include conducting site walkthroughs, tracking progress, documenting issues, and helping resolve constructability challenges in alignment with the company’s preconstruction-led process. The Assistant Superintendent helps maintain organized site documentation, supports inspections, and communicates clearly with trade partners, consultants,
and project management. The role also contributes to enforcing safety protocols, maintaining tidy and efficient work areas, and upholding Thunderbird’s standards for craftsmanship and long-term building performance. Qualifications Field coordination and site management skills, including assisting with scheduling, sequencing of work, and day-to-day supervision of trades. Understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and building codes, with the ability to identify constructability issues and support clash detection. Strong safety awareness, familiarity with site safety procedures, and commitment to maintaining a protected, compliant work environment. Effective communication and teamwork abilities, including clear communication with Superintendents, trade partners, consultants, and project managers. Organizational and documentation skills, such as maintaining logs, checklists, daily reports, and records of site activities and deficiencies. Experience in multi-family or mixed-use residential construction, particularly wood frame and/or concrete, is an asset. Relevant technical education or apprenticeship in construction, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent on-site experience. Proficiency with basic construction software tools (e.g., scheduling, document management, and digital plans) is beneficial. Ability to work on-site in Vancouver, BC, with a focus on quality, durability, and long-term performance of completed buildings. Salary range: $95,000.00 - $115,000.00 with a performance based bonus.
