Basic ECE

- Plan, implement, and evaluate a high-quality, developmentally appropriate program for children aged 3 and 4 years that includes a balance of structured and child-led learning experiences.
- Provide leadership within the classroom by guiding and supporting the other preschool teacher,substitutes, practicum students, and volunteers to ensure a safe, positive, and collaborative learning environment.
- Oversee the daily operation of the classroom, ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of all children while maintaining compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act, the Child Care Licensing Regulation, and all Douglas Park Community Association policies and procedures.
- Foster positive relationships and maintain open, skilled communication with children, families, staff, and community partners.
- Complete administrative responsibilities related to the operation of the preschool program, including parent communication, program planning, maintaining children's records, preparing documentation, managing the classroom budget, purchasing supplies using petty cash, reconciling receipts, and ordering classroom materials and equipment as required.
- Collaborate with the Licensed Child Care Coordinator and fellow educators to develop curriculum, plan special events, maintain classroom resources, and support the overall operation of the preschool program.
- Maintain accurate documentation, including attendance records, incident reports, developmental observations, and other records required for licensing and program operations.
- Ensure the classroom environment is clean, organized, engaging,



and reflective of children's interests, abilities, and developmental needs.
- Contribute positively to the overall operation of the preschool program and Douglas Park Community Centre by demonstrating professionalism, teamwork, flexibility, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications:

- Valid Early Childhood Educator (ECE) Certificate
- Valid First Aid Certificate
- Minimum of two years' experience working in a licensed preschool or group childcare setting, with demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Experience communicating and building positive relationships with families.
- Demonstrated experience working in inclusive early learning environments and supporting children with diverse abilities and needs.
- Strong knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practices.
- Demonstrated understanding of play-based learning and emergent curriculum.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a teaching team while providing leadership and mentorship to other educators.
- Strong organizational, administrative, and time management skills.
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check,



including clearance to work with children, will be required.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience in a lead teacher or supervisory role.
- Experience with BC Child Care Licensing requirements and documentation.
- Experience with budgeting, petty cash reconciliation, and program administration.
