Join the Barrie Area Native Advisory Circle as a Primary Care Nurse Practitioner. Provide culturally protected, trauma-informed health care for Indigenous patients within a community-based model.
As a member of BANAC’s Indigenous interprofessional primary health care team, you will utilize advanced nursing skills to assess, diagnose, and treat a diverse range of health concerns. Your role emphasizes health promotion, community wellness, and patient empowerment, all while adhering to Indigenous knowledge systems and cultural protocols. This position requires ongoing participation in cultural safety training and commitment to personal reflective practices.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assess and diagnose health issues for Indigenous patients • Collaborate with interprofessional teams on care strategies • Promote health and prevent disease through education • Provide trauma-informed care in clinic and community settings • Engage in outreach to Indigenous communities for service delivery
Requirements: • Current RN(EC) registration with CNO • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required • Experience in primary health care settings preferred • Knowledge of Indigenous culture and health practices • Robust ability to work independently and collaboratively
