Role Description The Freelance Estimator is a contract role based in office in Surrey, BC. This role is responsible for reviewing project plans and specifications, assessing mechanical, millwright, welding, and industrial moving requirements, and preparing accurate cost estimates and proposals. Day-to-day tasks include analyzing labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs, coordinating with project managers and field supervisors, and clarifying scope with clients when needed. The Estimator will update and maintain estimating records, support bid submissions, and provide insights to improve cost efficiency and competitiveness.



The role requires regular presence at the office and, when necessary, visits to job sites to gather details and verify conditions.
Qualifications
Strong estimating and cost analysis skills for mechanical contracting, industrial millwright work, welding, and industrial moving projects.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and project specifications, with solid understanding of construction and industrial processes.
Proficiency with spreadsheets and estimating software, and robust numerical and analytical skills.
Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with project managers, field teams, clients, and suppliers.
High attention to detail, organized work habits, and ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines.
Knowledge of industry safety standards and best practices in industrial and mechanical environments.
Previous experience in mechanical contracting, industrial construction, or a related field as an estimator or project coordinator is an asset.
Relevant technical diploma, trade certification, or equivalent practical experience in mechanical or industrial disciplines is preferred.
