Job Title: ANTICIPATORY - Director position in Regulatory Policy Directorate

This process is being conducted to establish a pool of qualified candidates that may be used to staff current and future vacancies at the Director level within the Regulatory Policy Directorate. As an anticipatory staffing process, appointments may be made immediately or at a later date as operational requirements arise.

The pool resulting from this process may also be used to staff similar positions with comparable qualifications and various tenures, including indeterminate, term, acting, and assignment opportunities.

What you’ll do

Reporting to the Director General, Regulatory Policy Directorate, you will provide leadership and direction in the analysis, development and advancement of the CNSC's regulatory framework, ensuring that regulatory policy initiatives support organizational priorities and regulatory excellence.

In this role, you will:

- Lead and develop a team of regulatory policy professionals.
- Provide strategic advice and recommendations to senior management on regulatory policy initiatives and projects.
- Oversee the delivery of regulatory framework projects in accordance with the CNSC's Regulatory Framework Plan.
- Lead engagement activities with interested parties, including industry representatives, environmental non-governmental organizations (ENGOs), Indigenous groups, and members of the public.
- Foster collaborative relationships with interested parties to support the development of effective regulatory policies.
- Contribute to regulatory efficiency by promoting evidence-based decision-making and encouraging innovation in regulatory approaches and processes.

Essential Qualifications:

Education:





Graduation with a degree from a recognized post‑secondary institution with acceptable specialization in economics, public administration, law, political science, public policy, or another field relevant to regulatory policy analysis.

An acceptable combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.

Experience:

- Experience identifying emerging policy or regulatory issues and advancing practical solutions in a complex environment.
- Experience in providing advice to senior management (Director General or equivalent and above) on complex regulatory, policy, or legislative issues.
- Experience establishing and maintaining internal and external relationships to further collaboration.
- Experience in project management and change management
- Experience using digital tools, data, dashboards, or collaborative platforms to support planning, oversight, decision-making, and reporting
- Significant experience in managing human and financial resources.

Knowledge of:

- Knowledge of the Government of Canada Regulatory process and Cabinet Directive on Regulation
- Knowledge of consultation and engagement practices related to regulatory initiatives.

Language Requirements:

Asset Qualifications:

- Experience leading the development, modernization, or implementation of regulatory policies, frameworks, regulations, or related initiatives.
- Experience leading digital transformation, process improvement, or regulatory modernization initiatives.

Operational Needs:

All CNSC staff are subject to the Mobility Directive.

Overtime:

Overtime may be required.
