Empower young patients through development as a Child Life Specialist at Alberta Children's Hospital. Enrich the hospital experience for children and families, utilizing therapeutic play and coping skills.
As part of the ACH Child Life team, you will focus on improving emotional and physical health through evidence-based interventions. In this role, you will assess children’s needs, implement therapeutic play programs, and prepare them for medical procedures. Your contributions will promote resilience and comfort across inpatient and outpatient services.
Key Responsibilities:
• Design and evaluate play and developmental activities
• Prepare children for diagnostic and surgical interventions
• Support coping strategies during medical procedures
• Coordinate therapeutic group programs for young patients
• Engage in multidisciplinary collaboration for best outcomes
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Child Life or related field
• Child Life certification from ACLP required
• Minimum 1-3 years of experience in pediatric care
• Experience in emergency department and PICU settings
• Understanding of family-centered care principles
