Position Title: Part time Academic (THEA : Acting 3a) - Fall 2026

Department/Unit: Fountain School of Performing Arts

This Part-Time Academic will be fully responsible for the teaching and grading of THEA Acting 3a, from September 1 to December 31, 2026 (Fall Term). The course aims to strengthen the actor’s instrument and creative response, while further developing acting technique with methods that draw from a variety of historical contexts, classical through contemporary texts, seeking to inform style, form, and characterization. The course is a requirement for students enrolled in the Honours BA in Theatre (Acting Program), and the instructor will instruct students in a range of embodied approaches to acting, character development, and theatre creation.

Experience in any of the following training methods will be seen as an asset: Lecoq, clown, mask work, viewpoints, devised theatre. The instructor will be required to provide a method of assessment, prepare and grade all written and performance work, and to calculate and then submit final marks. The position works in collaboration with full‑time Acting Program faculty, is expected to participate in day‑to‑day administration of the Acting Program, and reports to the Director of the Fountain School of Performing Arts.

Qualifications/Requirements of Position

- MA, MFA or equivalence;
- professional acting experience;
- teaching experience at the post‑secondary level;
- evidence of strong teaching effectiveness;
