Role Description
This is a full-time, temporary on-site Mine Rescue role based in Nunavut. The Mine Rescue team member will participate in emergency response operations, including search and rescue, evacuation support, and incident stabilization in underground and surface mining environments. Daily responsibilities include conducting safety inspections, maintaining and testing rescue equipment, and taking part in regular drills and simulations to ensure operational readiness. The role also involves collaborating with mine operators on emergency planning, supporting safety training sessions, and accurately documenting incidents and training activities. Team members are expected to work in high-risk environments, follow established protocols,
and respond quickly and effectively to emergency situations.
Qualifications
- Ability to perform physically demanding workl, including lifting, climbing, and operating in confined spaces and adverse conditions.
- Strong understanding of mine safety, emergency response procedures, and hazard identification in both underground and surface operations.
- Demonstrated capacity to remain calm under pressure, make sound decisions, and work effectively in high-stress, time-sensitive situations.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills, including clear reporting, coordination with emergency services, and collaboration with diverse crews.
- Experience with rescue equipment operation, inspection, and maintenance; prior mine rescue or emergency services experience is an asset.
- Relevant safety certifications (e.g., first aid/CPR, confined space, mine rescue training) or willingness to obtain them within a defined timeframe.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical or safety training related to mining or emergency response is preferred.
- Ability to comply with all safety regulations and company policies, including the use of personal protective equipment and participation in ongoing training.
- Certified in underground and surface mine rescue (BC, Alberta, or any of the Territories)
Wages starting at $850/day + LOA + Travel allowance + paid travel
