Job Summary

The Tenant Support Worker (TSW) reports to the Site Manager and works in accordance with the mission and philosophy of Lookout Housing and Health Society, including following Lookout’s Code of Ethics. The TSW works with residents to provide assistance, support, education, and skills training, helping tenants develop greater independence and stability for a healthier living arrangement.

Employment Details

Employment Status: Casual (shift work). Days and Hours: 7 days a week, day, afternoon/evening and overnight shifts (including weekdays, weekends and holidays). Shift length: 7.5 hours. Rest days are consecutive. Shift schedule may change with two weeks’ notice.

Probationary period: 488 hours with mid and end point reviews. Night premium will be given to staff that work 50% or more of their shift between 00:00‑08:00.

Salary: $33.49 – $35.31 per hour (depending on seniority, as per the Collective Agreement).

Job Duties

- Participate in tenant intakes and provide support services and assessments.
- Identify challenges for tenants, develop service plans, crisis intervention, and administer finances and medication.
- Ensure basic needs are met by working closely with individuals on a long‑term, ongoing basis.
- Complete required paperwork and maintain statistical and evaluative data.
- Assist with volunteers and practicum students on site.
- External work may occur; use of an automobile may be required at times.
- Remain alert and attentive during working hours—sleeping during shifts is not permitted.
- Comply with and contribute to all aspects of the health and safety program.
- Maintain a clean‑shaven area for respirator seal contact and complete annual fit testing for a half‑mask respirator (WorkSafeBC and organizational safety requirements).





Qualifications & Competence

Education, Training and Experience

- Diploma in Community Social Service.
- Class 5 BC Driver’s License (if required).
- OFA 1 First Aid Certificate.
- Food Protected Certificate (if required).
- Recent related experience of at least two (2) years, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience, or other qualifications deemed reasonable and relevant.
- Minimum of two (2) years sobriety if having alcohol and/or drug problems.
- Criminal Record Clearance – Vulnerable Sector.

- Knowledge of related resources such as Mental Health, Income Assistance, Harm Reduction, Trauma‑Informed Practice, and Addictions Support organizations.
- Ability to carry out the duties of the position and work independently and cooperatively.

- Ability to observe and recognize changes in guests.
- Ability to establish and maintain rapport with guests.
