Wealthsimple is looking for a Strategic Legal Counsel to support litigation and investigation efforts. This hybrid role is essential for managing regulatory incidents and compliance across the organization.

You will join Wealthsimple’s Regulatory function, reporting to the Director, Legal (Risk & Enterprise). This position involves leading high-impact investigations, managing legal disputes, and developing robust compliance frameworks. As the complexities of financial regulation evolve, your strategic guidance will be crucial to the company's success.

Key Responsibilities:



• Direct complex regulatory investigations and disputes • Support legal actions related to cybersecurity and consumer protection • Enhance crisis management and escalation processes • Collaborate with Compliance and Privacy to identify risks • Oversee litigation and coordinate with external legal teams

Requirements: • Member of Canadian bar with LL.B. or J.D. • 5-7 years experience in litigation and investigations • Expertise in financial service regulations • Experience advising fintech companies is advantageous • Bilingual in English and French is a plus
