Summary
The Mold Repair Technician is responsible for ensuring molds are maintained at factory-quality standards to support uninterrupted production and consistent product quality. This role plays a critical impact on operational efficiency by performing accurate repairs, preventative maintenance, and quality inspections to extend mold life and minimize downtime.
This is a 2nd-shift position with a work schedule of Monday through Friday, 3 pm - 11:30 pm. The hourly pay rate for this role is $24.93.
Responsibilities
- Restore damaged molds to factory-quality standards through sanding, grinding, filling, and polishing techniques.
- Perform gelcoat repairs, including application, color matching, and buffing to create a seamless finish.
- Complete structural repairs using resin systems, fiberglass mats, and controlled curing processes.
- Conduct preventative maintenance on mold surfaces to reduce production downtime and maintain performance.
- Document all repair activities and inspect finished molds to ensure they meet quality specifications.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma required; additional experience preferred
- Minimum 3 years of related experience required; 5+ years preferred
Technical & Role-Based Requirements
- Strong understanding of composite structures, resin systems, and curing processes
- Proven ability to perform detailed mold repair and surface restoration work
Skills & Abilities
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools (such as grinders and sanders), and pneumatic equipment
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Ability to follow strict safety protocols and properly use PPE, including full-face respirators in environments with styrene exposure
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Comfortable working at heights (ladders), in confined spaces, and in overhead positions
