Wolseley High School offers grade 7 to 12 programming to an enrolment of approximately 95 students.

Grenfell is located 109 km east of Regina.

This is a permanent part time position that will commence on August 26, 2026.

Role Overview: The Library Assistant is responsible for assisting in all aspects of the day-to-day operations of the school library in order to create a positive, welcoming and relevant centre of learning for all members of the school community.

What you will do: Independently and accurately performbasic cataloguing functions using standards of professional librarianship: Create''copy'' catalogue records and edit bibliographic records available through online databases.





Accurately generatelabels and bar codes.

Maintain, edit, add,and deletepatron records, using appropriate utilities.

Completeregular inventories of resources at schools.

Employdivision cataloguing and library automated system standards that reflect standards recommended by the Ministry and other recognized library organizations.

Collaborateregularly with team members to ensure a high level of accuracy, detail, and consistency within cataloguing records and for cataloguing practices.

Orderapproved resources and sendinformation for new resources to a library technician to create the bibliographic record.

Providereference services to teachers and students, including assisting in locating and using library materials for reading, research, units of work and resource-based learning.

Maintaininventory of resources, ensuring computer-based circulation protocols are followed, collectoverdue materials and attendto inventory management.

Acquireand processresources (shelving, filing, laminating, repairing), orderlibrary consumables and processmaterials received.

Promotean inviting library environment conducive to student achievement by assisting with reading activities, displays and events that engage students and contribute to the school-wide literacy culture.

Assistteachers in the supervision of student use of the library.

Attendand participatein regular division library staff meetings and professional development.





Performother duties as may be required or assigned by the School Administrator.

What will make you successful: A minimum of one year post-secondary education in a field such as business administration or office administration or an approved Library Clerk certificate. A working knowledge of computers and Microsoft applications of Excel, Outlook and Word.

Experience in a library setting would be an asset.

High degree of proficiency in database software and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel and Outlook Ability to be flexible and adapt to change.

Proven written and oral communication skills.

Demonstratecourtesy and professionalism.

Familiarity with library software is an asset.

Ability to manage confidential material and maintain staff and student privacy.

What you can expect: Hourly rate range: $$ Employer matched pension plan.

Hours of work are 10 hours per week, exact scheduling to be determined.

Library Assistants are not scheduled to work during school vacation periods including the summer break.

Additional working conditions, leave provisions and other benefits are described in the CUPE Local 5252 Agreement.

Some manual labour including regular physical exertion and handling of objects up to 30 lbs. on a repeated basis through the day and pushing weight bearing carts.
