Position Overview

We are looking for an Occupational Therapist to work at Extendicare Red River Place Home, located in Selkirk MB. The role reports to the Administrator and collaborates with the Team Leader(s) and Director of Care on program needs and therapy planning. The successful candidate will provide high‑quality care while maintaining a safe and healthy environment for residents and staff.

Responsibilities

- Planning, implementing, evaluating, and monitoring occupational rehabilitation programs as determined.
- Assessing, developing, and implementing individual resident therapy treatment plans and interventions, including MDS2.0 assessments as required.
- Recommending, constructing, and/or providing adaptive equipment for residents.
- Implementing individual and/or group treatments for cognitive and/or perceptual dysfunctions according to available time and resources.
- Actively participating in operational improvement initiatives such as a no‑restraint policy and falls prevention.
- Acting as a member of the Interdisciplinary Team, providing clinical education and direction to management and care staff for resident care planning and delivery.





Qualifications

- Graduate of an approved school of Occupational Therapy with a minimum of a degree certification.
- Active registration with ACOT and CAOT or eligible for same.
- Experience working in long‑term care preferred.
- Proficiency with computer applications, MicrosoftOffice, and the internet.
- Experience with MDS2.0 desirable; familiarity with PointClickCare software an asset.
- Customer‑focused attitude with demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective team relationships with staff and residents.
- Demonstrates the ability to teach, motivate, and empower residents/staff.
