Overview

As a valued member of the culinary team, you will assist with plating and serving meals, and will be responsible for cleaning serving areas and equipment while following established policies, procedures and standards.

Responsibilities

- Serve food to residents according to individual diets and preferences. Observe time limits for meal serving and maintain food at proper serving temperature.
- Assist cooks to clean and prepare uncooked foods such as salads, vegetables and fruits; follow basic instructions in preparing simple foods such as breakfast items, basic desserts, and garnishes.
- Clear plates and trays, load and operate dishwasher; clean pots, pans and cooking utensils per procedure.
- Participate in proper storage and labeling of dietary supplies and food, including leftovers.
- Adhere to established departmental policies and procedures regarding quality assurance, fire, safety, environment and infection control.
- Assemble nourishment carts and stock unit kitchenettes.




- Participate in facility meetings as assigned and attend in‑service education programs.
- Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Qualifications

- High School Diploma or higher academic certification.
- Degree or diploma in Nutrition or Food Service Program is an asset.
- Previous dietary skills, knowledge and experience with institutional, health care, restaurant or hospitality food service environments is an asset.
- Must meet the physical requirements of the position (standing for long periods, moderate to heavy lifting, fast‑paced environment).
- Ability to read and write in English and understand straightforward verbal and written instructions in English.
- Ability to work safely, following established safety practices and procedures.
- Successful candidate must be available to work days, evenings, weekends and statutory holidays.
