Support Health Sciences labs at the University of Saskatchewan as a Wash-up Technician. This role involves equipment washing, sterilization, and lab support in a agile and engaging academic setting.
The Wash-up Technician reports to the Associate Director of Operations and plays a crucial role in providing lab support services for student and research labs. Key responsibilities include operating sterilization equipment, maintaining chemical supplies, and assisting with lab set-ups.
You will also undergo cross-training to ensure comprehensive support across multiple lab facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate autoclaves and glassware washers effectively
Maintain inventory of lab supplies and reorder as needed
Assist in setup and cleanup of student labs as directed
Manage biohazard waste disposal and maintain water purification units
Support preparations of media and reagents for labs
Requirements:
Grade 12 completion; diploma in lab technology is an asset
Relevant lab support experience preferred
Familiarity with safety protocols (WHMIS, Biosafety)
Proficient in Microsoft Office software
Physically fit to lift heavy items and stand for long periods
