Job Description

As a Warehouse Associate and Driver you will pick, pack, and ship customer orders, count and verify items, receive and put away incoming vendor material, and handle customer returns. Your attention to detail will ensure high levels of customer service and satisfaction in a fast‑paced environment.

As a driver you will perform out‑of‑town deliveries, loading trucks, and ensuring safe and compliant transport of goods to customer, vendor, and company locations. You will maintain driver logs, perform pre‑trip inspections, and comply with all traffic and safety regulations.

Additional Duties

- Follow all Health and Safety rules and legislation while performing job functions.
- Load and unload trucks, operate forklift and other material handling equipment.
- Drive the Emco truck safely and in compliance with company policy, traffic laws, and provincial Ministry of Transportation legislation. Destinations include job sites, customer facilities, vendor facilities, Emco locations, other wholesaler facilities, and any other location as directed by management.
- Complete pre‑trip inspections and report any mechanical problems with the truck. At the end of the workday complete your driver’s log.
- Understand the shipping documents, including WHMIS, associated with the material for each delivery.
- Unload the correct material at each location and place it where the receiving party wants it. Obtain signature from the receiving party.
- Work with customers at the delivery site to resolve shipping discrepancies quickly and accurately.
- Load the truck at other locations with material picked up from vendors and returns from customers.
- Provide sales leads by noting prospective customers discovered during deliveries.
- Understand and follow all safety regulations at all customer locations as well as at the Profit Centre.
- Receiving duties include:
- Upon unloading vendor shipments or customer returns, obtain the packing slip and verify material received.



Note any discrepancies or damaged material.
- Print and verify the computer receiving documents and enter material received into the computer system.
- Identify special order material and damaged material and store in the proper location.
- Note all shipping discrepancies on freight carrier’s Bill of Lading, initiate freight claims and forward paperwork to the appropriate teammate.

- Picking, packing, and shipping duties include:

- Pick material for customer orders, counting and comparing items to the shipping documentation.
- Assemble material and pack appropriately for pickup or shipment to customer.
- Complete documentation for any shipments delivered via third‑party carrier or requiring Transportation of Dangerous Goods documentation.

- Notify the team of any inventory discrepancies and damaged/defective material that would impact customer service levels.
- Maintain warehouse cleanliness and safety by removing empty cartons, metal banding, pallets, and other debris.
- Inform the Profit Centre Manager of any safety issues within the warehouse.
- Assist teammates in servicing customers at the counter.
- Perform other tasks as requested by the Profit Centre Manager.

Qualifications

- Grade 12 diploma or equivalent; college and/or university degree an asset.
- Minimum of 1 year of driving experience with a valid G license and a clean driving record; DZ license an asset.
- Knowledge of CVOR and a clean CVOR record will be considered an asset.
- Experience driving 3/4 ton trucks.




- Know the laws and regulations governing driving motor vehicles in general and commercial vehicles subject to Provincial Ministry of Transportation regulations.
- Understanding of the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act.
- Outstanding customer service and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to develop comprehensive product knowledge.
- Ability to learn to safely operate a forklift and any other material handling equipment.
- Possess a high level of attention to detail and accurately process orders.
- Ability to learn and operate the applicable software system used to process orders.
- Intermediate math skills.

Preferred Skills

- Previous experience with or knowledge of plumbing and building products sold at the Profit Centre.
- Experience using Word, Excel, Microsoft Teams, and Outlook.
