Position Summary
Reporting directly to the Director of Care, the Health Care Aide (HCA) is a regulated member of the interprofessional health care team who provides ongoing client care. The HCA observes, monitors and reports on client status/condition including changes in physical and emotional status, and ensures that changes are reported to the Registered Nurse (RN) and/or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
This position delivers prescribed medications accurately as per policy and procedure and maintains professional and ethical standards at all times. The HCA may perform other related duties as required.
Program Summary
Complex Care – for frail seniors who require the care of an interdisciplinary team to maintain and improve quality of life in a safe, comfortable and supportive environment.
Carewest offers a mix of secured and unsecured units.
Qualifications and Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent, plus graduation from an Alberta Government recognized Health Care Aide program.
- Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English.
- Physically capable of managing frequent lifting, transferring and repositioning of clients.
- Active and current registration with CLHA.
- Related experience in a health care facility is an asset.
- Program-specific training/experience is an asset.
