Opportunity

As a Health Care Aide, you will work as a member of the care team, collaborating on the delivery of resident care under the supervision of a Licensed Practical Nurse. You apply your knowledge and skills to provide a wide variety of safe and thorough basic care and services to residents.

What You Will Do

- Work to your full scope of practice and provide resident focused care.
- Observe residents for any changes in status while tub bathing, washing, cleaning, dressing, and changing. Report any changes in the resident’s condition to the Staff Nurse as soon as possible.
- Participate in the development of the Nursing Care Plan (NCP) by sharing observations, information and knowledge of the needs and strengths of the residents.
- Share this information with other members of the nursing team and the health care team (Collaborative Care Model) so that the plan addresses the resident’s individual needs in a holistic way (Philosophy of Caring/Wellness Model).
- Assist and accompany residents in moving around the community with walking as well as participate in functions.
- Report any unsafe activities that may cause harm or injure a resident.

What You Will Bring

- Graduate of Health Care Aide program (or provincial equivalent certificate program with minimum 500 hours of theory & practicum).
- Experience working with seniors in the community health services setting.
- Must possess strong written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated organizational and time management skills.
- Robust interpersonal and customer focus skills.
- Must have demonstrated sound skills and knowledge of providing personal care duties.
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support and First Aid certification recommended.




- Ability to perform tasks that are necessary for the position, e.g. lifting/transferring clients.
- Must provide a complete and current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain one.
