Job Summary: The Senior Data Analytical Specialist/Scientist will lead the analysis, building, validation, and operation of the Dalla Lana School of Public Health chronic-disease-burden model (ODBM) within Public Health Ontario s systems.

This senior role requires working with minimal direction to integrate the model into the Public Health Data Utility platform, ensuring sustainable knowledge transfer and collaboration across technical and stakeholder teams in a hybrid work setting.

Responsibilities: Analyze the DLSPH chronic-disease-burden model and methodology for integration within PHO systems.

Build, validate, and operate the model aligned with the Public Health Data Utility (PHDU) platform.

Support data acquisition through data-sharing agreements and governance processes.

Document methodologies and transfer knowledge to PHO staff for ongoing sustainability.

Participate in documentation, development, testing, end-user training, and collaboration with functional experts, data architects, ETL developers, and technical teams.

Deliver documented methodology, code, data acquisition protocols, and analytical requirements.

Lead and train others in technical components and concepts related to the model and data workflows.

Required Skills & Certifications: Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

Strong consulting and relationship-management abilities to engage with client groups, technical teams, data stewards, and stakeholders.

Ability to clearly communicate complex quantitative methods, assumptions, outputs,



and limitations to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Senior-level experience with statistical methods, model validation, and reproducible analytical workflows.

Experience manipulating and analyzing complex data from structured and unstructured sources.

Designing data ingestion, transformation, quality checking, and reproducible data-processing workflows.

Broad understanding of data management, business analysis, database architecture, governance, and information visualization.

Proficiency in R and/or Python, query languages, and version-controlled analytical code.

Strong investigative, mathematical, and statistical skills to assess model logic and resolve data or code issues.

Public sector experience is required.

Preferred Skills & Certifications: Experience with R and PowerBI.

Experience with population or public-health data and chronic-disease, microsimulation, or burden-of-disease modeling.

Experience adapting external academic or research models into production environments.

Familiarity with cloud analytics platforms such as Azure and Databricks.

Knowledge of Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and related standards.

Special Considerations: Role requires working with minimal supervision and leading others.

Engagement involves collaboration across multiple technical and functional teams.

Must support sustainable knowledge transfer to internal staff.

Public sector environment with adherence to relevant governance and data-sharing protocols.

Scheduling: Hybrid work schedule with 2 days per week in-office attendance.
