Overview

In this role, you'll help safeguard the health and well-being of individuals, families, and communities across Northern BC by reducing environmental health risks, preventing communicable disease, promoting compliance with legislation, and supporting healthy community development.

Working under the general supervision of the Manager or designate, the Environmental Health Officer is responsible for delivering a diverse environmental health protection program. Through inspections, technical assessments, consultation, education, and enforcement activities, you will help ensure protected and healthy environments for the people we serve.

Key Responsibilities

- Conduct environmental health inspections and assessments.
- Investigate and mitigate health hazards.
- Support the prevention of communicable diseases and injuries.
- Provide consultation and education to community partners, businesses, and the public.
- Monitor and enforce environmental health legislation, policies, and standards.
- Promote healthy community planning and development.

Work Schedule

Monday to Friday, Days

8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Health or equivalent, recognized by the Board of Certification,



Canadian Institute of Public Health Inspectors (CIPHI).
- Certificate in Public Health Inspection (Canada) issued by CIPHI.
- Registered or eligible for registration with CIPHI.
- Valid BC Class 5 Driver's Licence and access to a personal vehicle.
