The Opportunity: The Procurement & Planning Supervisor is responsible for leading the day-to-day execution of live poultry procurement and planning activities to ensure customer demand is met through safe, efficient, and cost-effective supply.
This role provides leadership to the Procurement Scheduling team while partnering closely with Planning, Live Operations, Sales, Finance, Grower Services, Live Haul, Hatcheries, Feed Partners, and Processing Operations to deliver operational excellence.
The incumbent is accountable for translating procurement strategies into daily execution, ensuring accurate producer settlements, maintaining regulatory compliance, and driving continuous improvement initiatives that enhance service, efficiency, and data accuracy.

Reason for vacancy: Existing Headcount Compensation: $62, $91, CAD base pay annually plus annual short-term incentive The above compensation reflects the target compensation for the position at the time of posting.
The base salary offered may vary based on a variety of factors including skills, experience, education, training, job- related knowledge, and other organizational requirements.
For part-time roles, salaries are adjusted according to scheduled hours.
In addition to base salary, this role is eligible to participate in Maple Leafs annual short-term incentive plan.
Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life: Leadership & Team Development Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching, and development for the Procurement team.
Establish clear performance expectations and support continuous learning and development.
Foster a collaborative, customer-focused, and continuous improvement culture.
Manage workload prioritization to ensure service levels are consistently achieved.
Procurement Planning & Execution Execute the live procurement plan to meet production schedules, customer demand, and bird specifications.
Monitor daily supply requirements and proactively resolve shortages, overages, or operational disruptions.
Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to optimize bird flow and plant utilization.
Support contingency planning for supply interruptions and operational challenges.
Producer Settlements & Administration Oversee producer settlements to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timely payment.
Validate processing data used for settlements and investigate discrepancies.
Ensure customer, vendor, and producer master data is maintained accurately.
Support SAP pricing updates and scheduling activities as required.
Stakeholder Management Develop strong working relationships with producers, CFO, CFIA, Live Haul, Catching, Operations, Feed Partners, Hatcheries, Sales, Planning, and Finance.
Support producer inquiries and claim resolution through timely investigation and communication.
Ensure all required regulatory documentation is accurate, complete, and submitted within established deadlines.
Reporting & Analytics Develop and maintain operational reports and dashboards that support business decision-making.
Analyze procurement performance, settlement trends, service levels, and key operational metrics.
Identify opportunities to improve forecasting accuracy, reporting efficiency, and procurement performance.
Continuous Improvement Lead and participate in process improvement initiatives using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
Identify opportunities to standardize processes, eliminate waste, and improve operational effectiveness.
Support implementation of new systems, technologies, and business processes.
Compliance & Governance Ensure compliance with Maple Leaf Foods policies, CFIA regulations, Chicken Farmers of Ontario requirements, and all applicable legislative standards.
Maintain accurate documentation and support audit requirements.
Promote a strong food safety, animal welfare, and workplace safety culture.
What Youll Bring: Post-secondary education in Agriculture, Business, Supply Chain, Operations, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
Minimum 35 years of progressive experience in poultry procurement, supply planning, or agricultural operations preferred.
Previous supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies Strong understanding of poultry procurement, live supply planning, producer settlements, and supply chain operations.
Demonstrated leadership, coaching, and team development skills.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities with strong attention to detail.
Effective planning, organization, and prioritization skills in a fast-paced environment.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.
Experience working with SAP and Microsoft Office applications, with advanced Excel skills considered an asset.
Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining high levels of accuracy.
Continuous improvement mindset with Lean/Six Sigma knowledge considered an asset.
