Summary of responsibilities As a member of the interdisciplinary team, the role of Registered Nurse (RN) at CCH is to deliver safe, effective, patient-centered, ethical, and evidenced-based nursing care.

The overall function of the RN is to assist our patients and community to manage clinical conditions and transitions and maximise their self-care abilities.

The RN also acts as a resource for members of the care team as well as embody a culture of caregiver inclusion in the patients plan of care. A compassionate and non-judgmental experienced Registered Nurse, you will use your skills and expertise in physical assessment to provide emergency health/psychological and forensic care to victims of sexual assault and/or intimate partner violence.

You have demonstrated positive communication and counselling skills, enjoy working on a multi-disciplinary team You will enjoy a variety of duties that include follow up health care to patients, on-call shifts as required, leadership and training to the ASAP nursing team and CCH staff, assisting in policy and medical directive development and providing outreach to the community.

This position provides the unique prospect of working in an advanced field of forensic nursing.

Team members enjoy working with community partners and representing the Hospital at various public events and initiatives.

The RN- ASAP ED Composite, when working in ED,



will respond to the ASAP patients who come in as their first priority and in compliance with the time limits set out in the care standards of the program.

The nurse can be asked to assist in ED if they are not engaged in ASAP patient care or time-constrained ASAP program administrative tasks.

They must be flexible and responsive to the needs of both areas.

Requirements of the job Holds current Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario Holds current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support Knowledge and expertise in nursing and demonstrated ability to use nursing knowledge and judgement to provide quality client care Completion of Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner training 3 years experience in a sexual assault domestic violence program Demonstrated recent experience relevant to the area of practice - (Sexual Assault and Intimate Partner Violence) Excellent presentation, communication and public relations skills Ability to meet the physical demands of the position Ability to arrive at the Hospital within 60 minutes of being called Computer-literate: able to use Windows, word processing, e-mail, internet Demonstrated regular, punctual attendance Demonstrated commitment to patient safety Valid drivers license and access to a vehicle Functional level in both official languages (oral and written in English, oral in French and testing completed) Schedule will include days, evenings and every other weekend Candidate will be paid at the appropriate step on the Team Lead Wage Classification for their regular ASAP Program Nurse schedule Preferred: Currently working in a SADV centre
