Job Title: Infrastructure Specialists 6 positions available Location: Barrie, ON (with some travel to GTA locations, Markham, and Hwy 27 and Hwy 401) Contract: Initial Term: 12 Months (with up to two 6 month renewals) Time Required: 40 hours/week Hours: Monday to Friday: 8:30AM 4:30PM with overtime: as required Candidates must hold a valid Drivers License and have a reliable, insured vehicle Other: Pass a criminal security check Starts: May 30, 2011 Submission deadline: Overview: The Infrastructure Specialist to work with team members to understand business needs and design information technology systems within documented architectural framework.
The position entails assessing, designing and documenting the information technology systems, products and related services that fulfill the business needs.
The position will also work with the receiving sustainment organization to ensure appropriate knowledge transfer.
The role is responsible for attending project meetings to understand business requirements and work with team members to design those requirements into information systems within existing architectural frameworks.
Interface with senior team members to develop, document and extend infrastructure service model across the infrastructure.
This infrastructure is extensive (800 or more Windows servers; virtual and physical) and supports systems that are required to operate 24 hours a day in a highly secure environment.
Skills and Experience Required: The successful candidate will have experience in the following areas:
-Excellent communications & interpersonal skills -6+ years of relevant experience in virtualization design and implementation -Experience with Security Status Monitoring products an asset. -Experience with HP Blade (c7000), DL380/580, Windows 2003, 2008, XP, 7 -Experience working in a 7x24x365 highly secure environment -Experience working in a high availability environment -Relevant infrastructure experience in aligning business objectives, business capabilities, technical capabilities and physical infrastructure -Knowledge of networking as it relates to server connectivity and port requirements for purposes of troubleshooting connectivity -Demonstrated experience in understanding and managing OS and hardware life-cycle -Solid organizational and communication skills -Strategic business thinking - ability to apply technical knowledge and experience to make proposals for achieving business objectives -Ability to work in a multi-team environment and drive completion of deliverables -Ability to assess enterprise risk with proper recommendation on mitigation -Proven ability to meet deadlines and manage priorities -Ability to work/liaise effectively with business, IT stakeholders, and vendor representatives -Proven ability to create design and implementation documentation. -Relevant experience in utility sector (preferred) Technology Skills Required: Component Product / Technology Operating System Windows XP / Windows 7 Windows 2003/2008 server Std and Ent Active directory, and all server services Hardware HP Blade c7000, BL680, BL460.
