About the Role
The Company is seeking an Executive Director for Planning and Development to lead and shape the region's growth agenda. This pivotal role demands a strategic and operational leader with a proven track record in municipal planning, particularly in high-growth and customer service-oriented environments. The successful candidate will be responsible for translating Council direction into implementable strategies that promote sustainable growth, overseeing major community-building initiatives, and integrating land-use planning with infrastructure and fiscal sustainability. The role also involves driving modernization, continuous improvement, and the effective use of data and technology within planning and permitting systems,
as well as advancing equitable and inclusive community-building initiatives.
The ideal candidate will have deep experience in municipal planning, a strong understanding of municipal operations, and a skilled planning designation. They must be adept at leading large, multidisciplinary teams, possess strong political acumen, and have exceptional communication skills to serve as trusted advisors to senior leadership and the public. The Executive Director will be expected to build and sustain high-performing teams, foster a culture of accountability and professional excellence, and build strong relationships with various stakeholders. Above all, the role requires a results-oriented community-builder who can navigate complexity, inspire confidence, and make a lasting impact on the quality of life in the region.
