**Job Title: Cleaner**
**Job Description**
This role supports a fast-paced preclinical research facility by maintaining clean, safe, and organized animal care and laboratory support areas.

You ensure that animal kennels, research spaces, and common areas meet strict cleanliness and hygiene standards, directly contributing to high-quality scientific work and animal welfare.
**Responsibilities**
Clean and sanitize kennels, animal housing areas, and surrounding facilities to meet established hygiene and safety standards.

Perform general janitorial duties, including sweeping, mopping, waste removal, and surface disinfection in research and support areas.

Support animal husbandry activities by maintaining clean environments for small and large animals in accordance with facility procedures.

Handle cleaning supplies and equipment safely and efficiently while following all facility protocols.

Lift and move items and supplies weighing up to 15 lbs as part of daily cleaning and facility upkeep tasks.

Remain on your feet for extended periods and perform physical activities such as standing, bending, and crouching throughout the shift.

Work efficiently in a fast-paced workplace and complete assigned cleaning tasks within required timeframes.

Follow written and verbal instructions in English and communicate clearly with team members and supervisors.

Assist with maintaining orderly storage of cleaning materials and ensuring that work areas are kept neat and organized.

Adhere to all health, safety, and animal welfare guidelines established by the facility.
**Essential Skills**
Experience performing cleaning and janitorial duties in a professional setting.

Ability to lift and carry up to 15 lbs safely and repeatedly during the workday.

Ability to stand, bend, and crouch for extended periods in a physically demanding environment.

Comfort working in a fast-paced setting with time-sensitive tasks.

Basic English communication skills to understand instructions and interact with the team.

Reliability and attention to detail when following cleaning and sanitation procedures.

Willingness to work around animals and support animal husbandry activities.

Ability to work assigned shifts, including Sunday–Thursday or Tuesday–Saturday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with a one-hour unpaid lunch.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
Previous experience in kennel attendant, animal husbandry, or similar animal care support roles is an asset.

Experience in a fast-paced facility such as a research center, clinic, or similar environment is beneficial.

Interest in developing skills related to animal handling and laboratory support through on-the-job learning and training.

Openness to pursuing relevant certifications and memberships supported by the employer,



such as laboratory animal technology credentials.

**Work Environment**

You work on one of two full-time shifts: Sunday to Thursday or Tuesday to Saturday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with a one-hour unpaid lunch.

The environment is fast paced and physically active, requiring frequent standing, bending, and crouching, as well as lifting items up to 15 lbs.

You work around animal kennels and research support areas, using standard cleaning and janitorial equipment while following established facility protocols.

The pay range for this position is $19.12 - $19.12/hr.
