About the Role
The Company is in search of a General Counsel to play a pivotal role in upholding its statutory mandate of promoting access to justice for low-income individuals. The successful candidate will provide strategic legal guidance, ensure high-quality legal aid services, and contribute to the organization's decision-making processes. This includes advising the Board of Directors, President & CEO, and senior leadership on legal, ethical, and public mandate alignment. The General Counsel will also oversee a diverse legal portfolio, from litigation to policy development, and strengthen Board governance as the Corporate Secretary.
Applicants for the General Counsel position at the company should be strategic and principled leaders with a minimum of 10 years' progressive legal experience in areas such as public law, litigation, governance, and regulatory compliance. The role requires a candidate with a proven track record of leading high-performing teams and expertise in managing risk, particularly in the areas of business law and policy development.
