Job Summary

Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Clerk to join the Seniors Program at Lions Gate Hospital in North Vancouver, BC.
As a Clerk with Vancouver Coastal Health you will:
- Perform secretarial and administrative duties and clerical support to Managers and Social Workers by performing such functions as typing a variety of technical and non-technical material utilizing various software applications, attending meetings to provide secretarial support and follow up actions, drafting correspondences, compiling reports on statistical information and distributing relevant reports.
- Coordinate resident admissions and receives resident admission documents, schedule and book site tours, screen and channel phone calls and relay messages to appropriate personnel.
- Clarify maintenance requisition information and enter it into the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) database.
- Provide clerical back up in Waitlist Management when needed.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Grade 12, graduation from a recognized secretarial program supplemented by recognized courses in medical stenography and three (3) years’ recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with others effectively.
- Ability to organize work.
- Ability to keyboard at 45 wpm.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check. As per Ministry of Health policy, all health care workers working in publicly-funded health care facilities are required to report their past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections. Collecting these records will allow for offering of any missing vaccines, and for appropriate actions to be taken in the event of any future exposure to a communicable disease or during outbreaks.
