Summary of Position
Abalone Construction is a privately owned company with over 30 years specializing in Industrial and Commercial civil construction. We offer construction services in a variety of markets including Infrastructure, Roadbuilding, and Land Development.
Role and Responsibilities
- Pick up parts at various vendors
- Haul culverts, skid steers, buckets, plate tampers, breakers, supplies and all other parts and or materials required for projects
- Prepare parts cores paperwork for core credit returns; return cores to vendors
- Get hoses built as required by shop staff
- Maintain a level of organization in parts and get sea cans and cutting-edge racks
- Organize heavy equipment/excavator buckets in yard as required.
- Controls the distribution and cleaning of all Coveralls for shop
- Pick up Friday lunches when required
- Pick up cheques from various contractors when required
- Empty all garbage cans from the shop and lunchroom
- Clean up all cardboard from shop and cut and stack in the cardboard recycle bin
- Monitor and work with shop staff to maintain proper inventory of welding gases (oxygen & acetylene)
- Control a running inventory and maintain organization of equipment filter stock, Extra parts
- Organize and control inventory of necessary tools (wrenches, track shovels, spades, grease guns, hammers etc.) for equipment and site
- Organize and control inventory of all spill/drip trays
- Organize and control inventory of DEF, Grease, Pails & jugs of oil, coolant and windshield washer fluid and order as required
- Control Plastic Jug and Containers and prepare for recycle.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications, Training and Education
- Class 3 license, clean driver’s abstract
- WHMIS 2015 & CSTS 2020
- 1+ year(s) experience in a heavy equipment maintenance shop & lube bay is an asset
- 1+ year(s) experience operating heavy equipment
- 1 + years operating a forklift.
- 1+ years driving a tandem 5T is an asset
Working Conditions
This position is based primarily in a heavy equipment maintenance shop and surrounding yard. The role requires working in a physically demanding environment with regular exposure to noise, dust, dirt, grease, vibration, and changing weather conditions. Employees are expected to stand, walk, bend, kneel, lift, and carry materials throughout the workday and safely operate company vehicles and shop equipment as required. The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (50 hours per week). Weekend work may be required to support operational demands. All work must be performed in accordance with company safety policies, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
