The Technician, Sculpture & Art Studios maintains the daily operation of studio and classroom facilities, supporting faculty to ensure healthy and secure environments for students and staff.
Responsibilities
- Provide assistance and technical support to students and faculty regarding equipment and facility usage.
- Ensure that equipment and facilities are maintained in good working order.
- Prepare materials for student and faculty use.
- Provide technical demonstrations, supervision, and assistance to students in the use of equipment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Fine Arts from a recognized post‑secondary institution or closely related discipline.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience working in a professional or educational role.
- Experience with sculpture and related 3‑dimensional art practices, woodworking, mouldmaking and casting, ceramics, metal fabrication, and studio maintenance.
- Knowledge of safe and efficient use and maintenance of hand tools, shop tools, and heavy machinery in woodworking, metal fabrication, ceramics kiln, and general studio maintenance.
- Experience with Occupational Health & Safety standards applicable in an academic studio setting.
- Ability to communicate principles and practices of safe studio work to students.
- Ability to multi‑task and respond to timely tasks quickly.
- Ability to work collaboratively with minimum supervision.
- Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills.
- Physical ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
