Introduction Communications and Engagement, the central government division dedicated to engaging Manitobans in the work of government, is seeking a Digital Engagement Officer who is able to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

This position is the first level of access to government for many citizens and is responsible for providing direct, timely and accurate responses to inquiries from the public through multiple digital platforms (telephone, email and web-based applications).

Duties: This position is part of a team that provides bilingual, tier 1 information and support for provincial government programs and services, manages and updates content on the Residents Portal, maintains an internal database of information and contact information specific to government programs and services, and oversees the government phone book.

The incumbent has daily contact with the public, government staff and executives requiring basic political acumen.

The officer utilizes multiple digital platforms to engage with citizens both domestic and international.

Responsibilities include research and statistical reporting, database management, reviewing news updates both within the government, the Province and Canada.

Qualifications: Essential: Extensive experience providing customer service including responding to public inquiries.

Experience communicating with people from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Experience researching and compiling factual information from various trusted sources, including but not limited to: websites, media outlets and social media.

Excellent English verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate with various levels of staff and the public.

Excellent written communication skills to respond effectively through email and internal communication channels.

Strong analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to interpret legislation, policy, and practices, and the ability to prioritize inquirer needs.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to work in a high volume, deadline-driven workplace.

Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to manage change well within a team environment.

Proficiency working with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power

Point and Teams) or similar software applications.

Ability to work independently and apply professional judgement to make decisions and displaypolitical acumen.

Desired: Experience working with database management and web applications.

Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) in French are an asset.
