Successful applicants are required to: Be able to work varied shifts as required, which may includeevenings and weekends Have previous supervisor experience in the restaurant industry, preferably in an institutional setting Job Summary University Food Services (UNFS) is the primary provider of food and beverage services at the University of Victoria, serving students, staff, faculty, and external clients through retail, residential dining, and its catering division, Degrees Catering. UNFS operates a variety of campus venues ranging from small grab-and-go cafs to high-volume food court operations.
The Chef de Partie (CDP) is responsible for participating in the day-to-day retail, residential and catering operations and overseeing First and Second Cooks within their designated areas.
The Chef de Partie performs duties as assigned by the Executive Chef, Executive Sous Chef, and/or Sous Chef in accordance with established standards of operation.
Job Requirements Experience: A minimum 4 years'' experience in a high-volume culinary environment with a minimum of 1 year of experience working in Chef de Partie capacity, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Specialized Knowledge/Education: Completion of Grade 12.
Valid Food Safe Level ll Certification.
Completion of Apprenticeship training or Trade Equivalent as a Cook is an asset.
Skills/Abilities:
Robust time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Computerproficiencywith MS Office Suite Applications.
Excellent interpersonal skills with a service-oriented attitude and ability to work independently or collaboratively in a team.
Demonstrate strong technical skills, including full muscle meat cutting and fish and poultry preparation.
Familiarity with food service operations, customer service principles, and kitchen workflows.
Physical ability to stand for extended periods; perform frequent bending, reaching, and twisting; lift 1020lbs repeatedly, lift up to 50lbs occasionally, and push or pull up to 50 lbs.
