Job Post End Date: 07/31/2026 About this opportunity: Reporting to the Coordinator, the Plant Operator is responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of processing equipment as required to achieve maximum throughput through assigned unit while actively adhering to the Cenovus policies, safety, operating rules, schedule agreements, attendance guidelines, and Government regulations.
While this vacancy is currently at Foster Creek this posting could be used to fill vacancies at any of the Oil Sands Operations sites (Christina Lake, Christina Lake North, Foster Creek, or Sunrise, based on business need).
Work Setting: This is a full-time employee position working a shift rotation All Oil Sands Operations sites have full-service camp facilities and recreational amenities.
Transportation: Depending on your place of residence and your shift rotation, bus and/or air transportation to/from site is offered from designated departure points in selectlocations.
Foster Creek is serviced by flight Hubs in Calgary and Edmontonas well as bus transportation to site from La Corey, AB.
Christina Lake, Christina Lake North and Sunrise have service flight Hubs in Calgary and Edmonton.
Saskatoon will become a service flight hub effective September 1, 2026.
There will also be bus transportation to these sites from La Corey, AB / Lac La Biche, AB effective September 1, 2026.
What youll do: Operate and monitor process units to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant production aligned with business objectives.
Identify and troubleshoot abnormal operating conditions and implement corrective actions to maintain operational efficiency.
Prepare equipment for scheduled maintenance activities, including isolation, turnover, and safety verification support.
Conduct field inspections, safety audits, LOTO activities, and regulatory compliance checks to support HSE standards.
Complete and review e-Log entries, operating procedures, and required operational reports to ensure accurate documentation and communication.
Support commissioning, start-up activities, and cross-functional team initiatives to improve process performance and operational reliability.
Who you are: Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements: Legally authorized to work in Canada Minimum 1 years of SAGD Thermal Heavy Oil operations experience.
Minimum Fourth-Class Power Engineering Certificate with progression towards Third Class.

As this position has been identified as safety sensitive, employment of a final candidate selected for this position will be conditional upon successful completion of required pre-employment medical and alcohol/drug assessments.
For this position you will be required to maintain a Class 5 driver''s license, a satisfactory driving record, and adhere to the appropriate Company policies and guidelines. A driver''s abstract will be one of the background checks requested in the pre-employment screening for the final candidate.
