Join Our Growing Underground Construction Team

North Star Contracting is seeking an experienced HDD Driller to join our underground utility division. We specialize in full-scope underground construction projects including power, telecommunications, gas, water, and sewer installations.

This is not a drilling-only role. We are looking for a skilled driller who is also willing to support the full construction crew once drilling operations are complete.

Key Responsibilities:

- Safely and efficiently operate Horizontal Directional Drill (HDD) rigs
- Execute accurate bore paths according to project plans and specifications
- Perform pre-job planning, utility locates, and hazard assessments
- Maintain drilling equipment and tooling
- Operate support equipment including excavators, skid steers, and loaders
- Assist with utility installations, pipe laying, backfill, restoration, and other underground construction activities
- Work collaboratively with crew members to complete projects safely and on time

Requirements:Required:

- Minimum 5 years of hands-on HDD Driller experience
- Strong experience operating heavy equipment (excavators, skid steers, loaders,



etc.)
- Previous experience in telecommunications and/or power utility construction
- Valid Ground Disturbance Level II Certification
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License (clean abstract preferred)
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions

Preferred:

- First Aid Certification, CSTS, WHMIS, and other safety tickets
- Class 1 or Class 3 license
- Experience with power, telecommunications, gas, water & sewer projects
