Aldershot Greenhouses Limited is a family-owned greenhouse operation and a leading grower of potted roses and other floral products since 1954. We are hiring full time Seasonal Greenhouse Labourers to support our operation. Anticipated contract length is 2 years.

Job Description

This position performs some or all of the following duties:

· Filling pots with soil, taking plant clippings, making cuttings.

· Sticking cuttings into pots, sticking tissue culture into pots.

· Planting cuttings, seedlings or plugs into 10.5 cm up to 24 cm pots.

· Transplant seedlings and rooted cuttings.

· Clipping the Plant cuttings to the ISO machine.

· Monitor plants for healthy growth and potential weed, insect, disease, and fertilizer problems in greenhouse crops

· Spray trees, shrubs, flowers, and plants to prevent disease and pests.

· Moving the pots about the Greenhouse by placing into trays, loading the trays onto carts and transporting to another area for unloading.

· Harvesting product either for orders or because product has reached harvest stage and will be placed in cooler.

· Processing harvested product for packaging.

· Packaging the processed product in boxes.

· Understand plants stages to know when to space, process or harvest product, as well as, understanding what the difference between poor quality and valuable quality product.

· May operate tractors and other machinery and equipment to fertilize, cultivate, harvest, and spray fields and plants.

· Cleaning the greenhouse, processing and shipping areas, picking up garbage, sweeping etc.

· Maintain tidy working areas

· Must be physically able to lift 50 pounds.





· Must be energetic to meet the demands of the job with fast paced environment, repetitive tasks, bending, crouching, and kneeling.

· Must be able to understand the different varieties of plants to ensure no mixing.

· Must be able to work in hot houses each day, or in fields bending over working on crops.

· Other duties as required.

Qualifications:

· Capable of operating various landscape equipment, including tractors, mowers, hand tools and forklifts.

· Ability to work indoors and outdoors in variable climatic conditions, including heat and wet conditions.

· Ability to work on my own and in a team environment.

· Work safely and maintain good work ethic.

· Highly self-motivated and positive role model.

· Able to work various hours with extra hours performed during peak operations.

· Ensure all laws and greenhouse policies are followed.

Requirements:

· At least 3 months of greenhouse or field experience.

Working Hours:

· Monday to Friday: 7 am – 4:30 pm. Busier seasons: 7 am – 7 pm.

· Saturday / Holiday: 7 am – 12 pm. Busier seasons: 7 am – 4:30pm.
